Heat and the Nowra fridge
Nowra sits inland on the Shoalhaven River, away from the sea breeze that keeps the coast a little cooler, and its summer days run hot. A fridge copes with that by running its compressor for longer. When the condenser coils are dusty, the fan is weak or the door seal has gone soft, the fridge cannot keep up, and the first sign is soft butter and warm milk on a hot afternoon.
Fridges in a laundry, a back room or a garage have it hardest, because the air around them is already warm. Give them space on all sides, keep the coils clean and check the seal every summer.
Defence families and moving house
With HMAS Albatross on the edge of town, a lot of Nowra households move every few years. Moving is hard on a fridge. Laid flat in a truck, the oil in the compressor can run into the lines, so the fridge needs to stand upright before it is plugged in. Doors get bumped and seals get pinched. If your fridge is not cooling properly a day after the move, or it is noisier than it was, book an assessment before the warranty or your removalist's claim window runs out.
Fridge faults we fix
A fridge section that is warm while the freezer stays frozen points to the evaporator fan or the defrost system. Water under the crisper drawers is usually a blocked defrost drain. A fridge that clicks every few minutes but never runs has a failed start relay or a compressor problem, and we tell you which at the assessment. If the fault is in the sealed gas system, that is licensed refrigeration work, and we say so before you spend more.
Booking in Nowra
The assessment here is $145, and the repair is quoted before any work. Tell us the brand and model and whether the freezer still works, so the technician can carry the likely part.
