Nightly cycles
In a family home the dishwasher runs most nights, and the parts that work every cycle are the ones that wear. The drain pump clears food scraps every time and jams on the odd bit of glass or bone. The door latch and hinges take a knock with every close. The spray arms clog with seeds and labels. The heating element scales up over the years until it fails.
None of these are reasons to replace the machine. They are parts, and the technician can usually tell which one at the assessment.
Integrated machines in the new estates
Calderwood and Tullimbar homes mostly have dishwashers built in behind a cabinet panel. They are repaired in place: the technician slides the machine forward, removes the kickboard and works from the front. The panel and the benchtop stay put. If your machine is under the builder's or the manufacturer's warranty, have the paperwork ready, because we are an authorised repairer for the major brands fitted in new homes.
Checks you can make
Clean the filter in the base and clear the sump. Pull the spray arms out and rinse them. Check the rinse aid and, if your machine has one, the salt. If water still sits in the base, the dishes still come out dirty or the machine shows an error, book the $125 assessment.
