Freestanding cookers and wall ovens
Plenty of the older homes in central Dapto still have the freestanding cooker they were built with, or its replacement, while newer houses mostly have a wall oven under a separate cooktop. Either way the oven faults are much the same.
An oven that will not heat at all is usually a failed element or a blown thermal fuse. One that heats slowly, or runs well under the temperature on the dial, has a thermostat or sensor problem. A fan-forced oven where the fan spins but the oven stays cool has lost its fan element. A door that will not seal or stay closed needs hinges or a seal.
Grill and cooktop on the same appliance
On a freestanding cooker the grill, the oven and the cooktop share one set of controls and one power supply. If everything is dead at once, the supply or a terminal block is more likely than three separate faults. If only the grill or one hotplate has stopped, it is that element or its switch. Telling us which parts still work saves time, because the technician can bring the likely part.
Older cookers are usually worth repairing while elements and switches are still available for the model. We check that before quoting, and if a part is no longer made we say so.
Before booking
Check the clock first. On many ovens a timer left in auto mode stops the oven heating, and resetting the clock fixes it. If the oven trips the safety switch, leave it off at the wall.
The assessment for Dapto is $125, quoted before any repair. If the same cooker also has a cooktop fault, mention it when you book and the technician will look at both on the one visit.
