Oven repairs in the Shoalhaven
Oven repairs are one of the most searched jobs in Nowra, and the ovens we see here range from wall ovens in the newer houses to freestanding cookers that have been in older kitchens for twenty years or more. Most of them are worth repairing. The parts that fail are a handful of standard components, and a built-in oven costs far more to replace than the oven alone once installation is counted.
Common faults
No heat. A burnt-out bake, grill or fan element, or a thermal fuse that has blown. A failed element sometimes shows a visible break or blister.
Wrong temperature. A thermostat or sensor that has drifted. Food burns on the outside and stays raw inside, or bakes take far longer than they should.
Fan noise. A grinding fan motor with worn bearings. It will not fix itself, and a motor that seizes takes the fan element's airflow with it.
Door problems. Worn hinges, a perished seal or cracked inner glass, all of which let heat escape and make the oven work harder.
Gas ovens
Some older Nowra homes still cook with gas. A gas oven that will not light, or lights and goes out, usually has a failed igniter or flame safety device. We repair the oven itself. If the fault is in the gas supply, you will need a gasfitter, and we will tell you.
Repair or replace
For an older cooker with a sound cavity and door, a new element or thermostat is nearly always the cheaper option. The question is parts: some older models no longer have their electronic controls or fascia panels made. We check that before quoting, so you do not pay for a part that cannot be supplied.
