Washing machine work in the Shoalhaven
Washing machine repairs are the job Nowra searches for most. Nowra is the Shoalhaven's service centre, and the washers we see here are a mix of older top loaders in established homes, large front loaders in the newer houses on the edges of town, and rental machines that have been through a few tenants.
After a move
Nowra has a lot of Navy families on posting to HMAS Albatross, and every posting means moving the washer. Front loaders are shipped with transit bolts that lock the drum. If they are left in, the machine shakes across the floor on the first spin and can crack its own drum mountings. If they were never put in for the move, the drum may have bounced hard enough in the truck to damage the dampers or springs. Either way, a washer that misbehaves straight after a move is worth an assessment before the damage spreads.
Common faults
The faults behind most Nowra calls are a blocked drain filter or failed drain pump, a door lock that will not release, an inlet valve that lets the machine fill slowly or not at all, and noisy bearings. On top loaders, the lid switch and the drive coupling come up often. We repair every major brand, and for the 16 brands we are authorised for, that includes work under the manufacturer's warranty.
Before you call
Make sure both taps behind the machine are on, the drain filter is clear and the door is shut firmly. Note any error code on the display. If the machine is still not right, book the assessment.
Cost and timing
Nowra is on our further-out rate, so the assessment is $145. The repair is quoted before any work starts, and finished repairs carry our warranty. Give us the model number when you book so the technician can bring the likely part rather than ordering it after the visit.
