Getting a technician to Clifton
Clifton is barely a suburb. It is a thin row of houses on a narrow shelf between the escarpment and the sea, with the Sea Cliff Bridge sweeping away at its northern edge. The village began as a coal settlement, its cottages built for the men working the Coal Cliff seam, and the little railway station closed for the last time in 1983. Not many people live here now, which is the reason a lot of repairers quietly treat Clifton as too far out to visit. We put it on the run with the other northern villages instead.
The appliances we get called to
Space is tight in these older homes, so the overflow tends to live outside the kitchen. A chest freezer in a lean-to or under the house cops the weather, and once salt and damp reach the lid seal and the compressor relay, it either stops holding temperature or starts running non-stop. A freezer left to ice up works harder than it should as well, so a manual defrost twice a year is worth the afternoon. It is the same story with a garage second fridge: the coils at the back corrode first this close to the water.
Inside, the washing machine does the heavy lifting for a beach household, and a blocked drain pump filter is behind more of our call-outs than any other single fault. If a wash finishes and the clothes are still sopping, that filter is the first place to look before you assume the worst. Put a towel and a shallow tray down before you open it, because water always comes out, then clear the lint, coins and hair clips that gather there.
Covering the northern villages
Because Clifton is small, we rarely come out for it on its own. A job here usually rides along with Coalcliff or Stanwell Park calls, and Coledale is a short run down the drive. If we are already on this stretch, a same-day visit is often doable.

So I contacted this company and the very next day someone came out and found the problem with my machine. So a part had to be ordered and within a short period of time my machine was fixed. This company is excellent to deal with and the repairer (Jye) was so nice and respectful of my house.
